About me
Catherine DiMartino
Professional: I have worked in education for over 25 years. I love being an educator and have a deep respect for the profession. For the last eight years I have been a Professor of Education at St. John's University, where I train principals and superintendents across the NY metro area. My specializations include using data for continuous improvement, school and community relations, and budget management. I have also served as the Chairperson of the Department of Administrative and Instructional Leadership at St. John's. Prior to joining St. John’s, I taught middle and high school social studies in New York City, conducted research for the RAND Corporation, and was an Assistant Professor at Hofstra University. My research has appeared in leading education journals including the American Journal of Education and Educational Policy. I have my M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University, and my Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from New York University. I look forward to bringing my experience and expertise to the Hastings Board of Education.
